Focusing in an accessible way on linguistic knowledge specifically for creative writers -- published or unpublished, individually or as part of group, my workshops introduce you to finding patterns in the language of fiction you may have never noticed before. We discuss why these patterns may be important to your craft, particularly when it comes to editing, re-drafting, and solving a range of writerly problems. Along the way, we do some experiments in writing, making changes in particular linguistic elements and discussing the effects, and we read masters of the craft in new ways, noticing more about their language choices to help you improve your technique.
